The Olive Tree Soap Company Review

I first heard of The Olive Tree Soap Company when a blogger friend reviewed their products last year. I fell in love with the products, the packaging, just the overall feel of the company. When I learned that the owner, Sobia, is based out of Toronto, Canada like me, I knew I just had to get to know her better. When I emailed her about trying some of her products, I was beyond surprised to learn that we literally live right around the block from each other – she even hand delivered my review package herself! This was perfect – a match made in natural body care heaven. 🙂

The Olive Tree Soap Company was started when Sobia’s son developed eczema as an infant (sound familiar?), and she went on the search for more natural, gentle skin care products. From there, she went on to create her very own luxury artisan soaps which married her two passions: art and science. Over the years, her line has expanded to include natural deodorants, lotion sticks, lip balms, organic argan oils, and other body care items. All of her items are handcrafted, using the finest ingredients, and contain no phthalates, parabens, SLS, etc. They’re eco-friendly, vegan, sustainable products which  are not only good for you but also for the planet.

Sobia dropped off a lovely review package for me, which included a Lavender Oatmeal Soap, Men’s Alchemist Earth Soap, Daily Avocado Facial Bar, Natural Deodorant, and a Lotion Stick.

Let me tell you that the soaps from The Olive Tree Soap Company are just lovely. The lavender oatmeal bar combines two of my favorite things and I just love the way it feels and smells! The crushed lavender flowers and oatmeal are gently exfoliating, and it leaves the bathroom smelling so nice – almost like a subtle air freshener. The avocado bar is very gentle and soothing, especially on my dry winter skin. It leaves my face feeling soft, not tight and dry. The men’s line, The Alchemist, is new and I’m loving this idea – the men are always left out, but they love all-natural pampering too! They come in 4 varieties – Earth, Fire, Air, Water. The Earth bar that I received is made with lemongrass and sage and has poppy seeds for exfoliation. I love the way this bar smells – very masculine, not fruity or floral like my husband has been subjected to in the past. 😉

The natural deodorant is great. It uses the same essential oil combination that I like to use in our homemade deodorant – lavender, tea tree, and rosemary – so I love the way it smells. It works very well, and I love that I can keep it in my bathroom without it melting (my homemade deo is an uncooked version and doesn’t contain beeswax so I keep it in the fridge to prevent melting). The only issue I have with the deodorant is that it contains cornstarch, which can sometimes cause sensitivities, so I’d recommend possibly switching to arrowroot powder for folks with more sensitive skin. But other than that, I absolutely love it – smells great, goes on smooth, and is as natural as can be!

Finally, the lotion stick – oh, the lotion stick. This thing is, in one word: Brilliant! I love hard lotion and have written about it before, but this lotion stick brings it to a whole new level. It has all the skin-nourishing benefits of a hard lotion, and adds practicality and convenience for good measure. I’m used to a lotion bar, which works fine, but putting in an easy to carry (and use) tube like this is just genius. Makes spot application (like elbows, feet, or kids) so much easier – just push it up from the bottom and apply to skin. Easy. Peasy.

 The Olive Tree Soap Company is seriously one of my new favorite bath and body care companies. Their products are pure, natural, and hand-crafted, their packaging is beautiful and very eco-friendly (Sobia designs the labels herself!), and they have such a nice variety of items and scents to choose from – even the men in our lives can have natural products with masculine fragrances. 🙂
