Natural Carpet Cleaner Spray Recipe
This one costs literal pennies and works shockingly well. The photos below are unknown stains on our stairs (they came with the house) that this spray lifted right out.
Equipment
- 2+ clean, absorbent towels
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp distilled vinegar
- 2 tsp dish soap clear, no bleach
- baking soda
Instructions
- Mix the water, vinegar, and dish soap in a spray bottle and shake well.
- Sprinkle baking soda on the stain.
- Spray the solution to saturate the baking soda, and let it fizz.
- Once the fizzing stops, blot with a clean towel. Gently rub if the stain is stubborn.
- Rinse by pouring or sponging cold water on the spot, then blot again. Repeat until the towel comes up clean.
- To dry, lay a thick towel over the spot and weigh it down with something heavy (a stack of books works).
Notes
Don't skip the rinse step. Leftover soap residue attracts dirt and you'll be cleaning that same spot again in a month.
