Powdered Laundry Detergent

This Laundry Detergent Powder is a simple and effective solution for clean clothes without harsh chemicals. Made with finely grated castile soap and a blend of washing soda, baking soda, and borax, this eco-friendly detergent tackles dirt and stains while being gentle on fabrics.

Equipment

1 Large bowl
1 Whisk
1 Face mask
1 Large storage container with air-tight lid

Ingredients

1 castile soap bar finely grated
2 cups washing soda
2 cups baking soda
2 cups borax

Instructions

After finely grating the bar of soap, add it to a bowl along with the borax, washing soda, and baking soda.
Wear a face mask (or other face covering), and whisk ingredients very well to make sure they are evenly distributed.
Store mixture in an air-tight container to prevent clumping.
Use 2-3 tablespoons per load for regular machine, and 1-2 tablespoons for an HE machine.

Notes

If washing with cold water, mix detergent with warm/hot water first to help it dissolve and not stick to clothes. I just add the detergent to the washer and run it on hot water until it starts to fill up, and then switch it to cold water and add the clothes.
