Spring is here! Spring is here! Spring is HERE!
I’m quite excited, if you can’t tell, because this winter was so darn long, but Spring has sprung and there’s not going back now. 🙂
Our garden is going in a little late this year, as we’ve been (and will be) traveling for a bit, so that’s going to have to wait. But what I have been working on is doing some Spring Cleaning, trying to get this house freshened up and ready for the new season!
I’ve posted quite a few natural cleaning recipes here over the past year, and it’s no surprise that many of them contain not only simple, natural ingredients, but also essential oils. I love essential oils and use them for just about everything – including cleaning our home – because they have disinfecting properties and they leave the house smelling absolutely wonderful.
When Plant Therapy contacted me about trying some of their oils, I quickly jumped at the opportunity. I’d never heard of their company before, but after reading more about them, I knew I wanted to work with them!
Plant Therapy Essential Oils Review

Plant Therapy sent me their awesome Top 14 Essential Oils Set – it contains oils I use on a regular basis, some that I’ve tried a few times, and some that I’ve only heard about but haven’t yet had the chance to try out. This was super exciting for me, as I’m always up for trying new oils in different ways!

First, let me say that I love Plant Therapy’s super simple, yet elegant packaging. The oils come in a simple cardboard box with a small layer of foam to protect the bottles, and a cute little elastic bow to hold the box closed. That’s it. No extra, wasteful packaging or paper, etc. The box was shipped in a thick, padded envelope, but that was it. I love when companies use minimalist principles in their packing and shipping!
Spring Cleaning and Other Recipes
The essential oils I’ve been using for my Spring Cleaning include lavender, orange, peppermint, and tea tree. So I used these in everything from my homemade laundry detergent and dryer sheets, to my all-purpose cleaner, my foaming hand soap and I even made a fresh batch of my anti-bacterial spray.

Now, I’ve used a few different essential oil brands in the past, and I even have a favorite brand for each specific oil. But I can tell you that I’m very pleased with the high quality of Plant Therapy’s oils. They smell amazing, and sometimes even better than my previous favorites. The lavender and orange, specifically, have a cleaner, more vibrant scent – and those are my favorites!
From Plant Therapy:
Plant Therapy believes in the power of essential oils, and know of their incredible benefits, we want them to be used in as many households as possible. Plant Therapy was founded with one goal in mind… we want to provide the highest quality essential oils (and accessories) at a price that everyone can afford. Plant Therapy provides oils that are 100% pure, undiluted and therapeutic grade. We source each oil from top suppliers around the world, buy in large volume, and negotiate the best prices possible. We then pass those savings on to you, the consumer!
In addition to my Spring Cleaning, I also wanted to try out some of the other oils, so I made up a new batch of my homemade deodorant. I used the lavender and tea tree oils for one batch, as usual, but I also added some patchouli for another batch because it has an earthy, fruity scent. Patchouli also has antiseptic and antimibrobal properties, making it a great deodorant!
And since I’m pregnant, I just had to try some of the tips from my Essential Oils for Pregnancy post! I’ve been having some neck pain and stiffness, so I mixed a couple drops of bergamot and lavender into some coconut oil and gave myself a nice neck massage. Wow! I’ve never used bergamot oil before, but it was a very nice complement to the lavender oil, for a soothing, relaxing massage. Bergamot is good for stress and anxiety, so it’s a great addition to your relaxing bath and massage oil blends.
I also really like that they list the uses and benefits of the oils very clearly on the side of every bottle. That way, the info is right at your fingertips so you don’t have to go fumbling around looking it up online or searching through a book.

The only thing I didn’t like about these oils was how quickly they came out of the bottle when I was adding them to my recipes. I’m used to a slow, controlled drip, allowing me to carefully count each drop. But Plant Therapy’s oils come out much more quickly, that sometimes it was hard to count the drops. Of course, this is an issue with the bottles, and not the oils themselves, but I still thought I’d mention it just so you’re aware.
I’m really impressed by the quality of Plant Therapy’s oils. They’re 100% pure and natural, and free from any chemicals or pesticides. If you’re just starting to get into essential oils, or if you’re a seasoned pro, you may want to give them a try next time you’re shopping for some oils, as they’re very affordable!

I have been using EO’s in my Vacuum (It’s a Rainbow Vacuum that runs with water in a reservoir) to make the house smell better for about 10 years now, as well as for many other typical uses (ie: aroma therapy, cleaning, assistance with sleeplessness, stress etc etc). I’ll be looking into these products more and to possibly try some new scents 🙂
Well, it’s hard for me to talk about just one! I use Black Cumin for immune health. Peppermint for just about ANTHING, Lavender for just about ANYTHING too. I use Clary Sage, Anise, and Geranium for menopausal symptoms. There are SO many!! Gotta love me some essential oils!!!!!

I really love peppermint oil – I use it in lip balms. I love the way it feels!
I also love lavender oil – it’s extremely effective, when rubbed over top of a carrier oil, for tight and sore muscle aches and tension! Not to mention how much better you can sleep with the wonderful scent of lavender coming from your back or shoulders at night. 😉

The oil I use the most is TTO. I use it in my homemade cleaner to add disinfecting. I also add a few drops to our laundry when washing.
I use EO’s mostly for aromatherapy. I use a combination of peppermint and tangerine to relieve headaches, and occasionally, to wake me up in the morning. I use lavender to relax. And I use various oils to add an inviting scent to rooms in my house. I mainly use citrus oils like lemon, orange, and grapefruit, because they tend to make me happy. Then I like to add sage, basil, or clary sage for an interesting combination.
Baby wipe solution is our most common use, but we also use them in other homemade products like shampoo and face wash. Lavender and lemon are the ones we use the most.
I haven’t actually used any essential oils in any recipes around my house yet. I’ve started collecting other ingredients to recipies so I can start using natural alternatives, I just don’t have the oils yet to do it. I seen this giveaway & thought I would enter. If I won I would be so excited! I’m getting my first home in about 3-7 months (just waiting on the short sale) & I really want to start making my own all natural products for cleaning, ailments, ect.
I use oils for EVERYTHING in my home. From cleaning, to taking care of cuts and scraps. It’s spring time, the bees are buzzing, and stinging. I use Tea Tree oil to clean the wound and then lavender to help with the pain. Lavender is also an anti-histamine which is perfect for itching and reddness that the sting leaves behind.
I like myrrh and frankincense for mood benefits.
